Devlog 7 - How it's made: Music

Welcome Back!
Thanks again for following along! I wanted to share something I've always dreamed of doing: creating music.

Back when I was younger, we had an upright piano at home. Every morning, I’d tinker with it, trying to find the right combination of keys to create something as beautiful as what I heard from classical musicians. Over time, I learned a few chords and became familiar with the major scale—but I never had formal lessons, and eventually, the piano was sold.

In high school, I discovered the guitar. I spent time learning chords, strumming patterns, and how to play popular songs. That love for music stuck with me. I even became the all-around instrumentalist in our band—sometimes playing rhythm guitar, other times on drums or bass. We didn't break up due to conflict; I simply had to prioritize my studies when college started.

For a while, that was the end of my music journey… until recently. I was gifted a MIDI controller—a dream tool I had long wished for—and that completely reignited my passion. I started learning again, this time diving into how music is actually created: starting with chords, layering melodies, and building rhythm.

Now, I'm learning how to compose video game music from scratch. It’s exciting—and it feels like I’m taking one more step toward being a more well-rounded game designer, someone who understands not just mechanics and visuals, but also the emotional tone that music brings to a game.

That’s it for this devlog! I’m so grateful you’re still here with me. Let’s keep moving forward together as this game takes shape!
